August 31, 2006 East Bay RI HOWITT ENDORSED BY SWANSEA REPUBLICAN COMMITTEE

Why you should vote for Steve Howitt

To the editor:

At the July 25 meeting of the Swansea Republican Town Committee we voted unanimously to endorse former Vice-Chairman of the Seekonk Board of Selectmen Steven Howitt to be the next state representative of the 4th Bristol District. Steven Howitt is the right person at the right time to represent the good people of Bristol County.

Steven Howitt has a history of taking a tough stand on issues important to his constituents and will refuse to give into the special interest groups that so many other state representatives have. He has pledged to vote against new taxes and tax increases. Something other candidates in this election have not done. He supports rolling the income tax back to 5 percent which the people of Massachusetts voted in favor of years ago yet the tax and spend liberals who control Beacon Hill have refused to sign off on. Steven understands the good people of Massachusetts are already overtaxed and the last thing working families need is another tax or a tax increase. Steven Howitt has opposed overrides to Proposition 2 1/2 because he knows the passage of these overrides could force working class families and the elderly out of their homes.

Once elected, Steven will fight to bring Jessica's Law to Massachusetts making sure those who commit sexual crimes against children are punished to the fullest extent of the law. He has been a longtime supporter of Melanie's Law stiffening the punishment of those who drive a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. Steven Howitt has been a longtime defender of the 2nd Amendment recognizing our Constitutional Rights to "keep and bear arms," despite the position taken by those on the far left who do not recognize this right clearly given to us by our forefathers.

Please vote for Steven Howitt in the republican primary on Tuesday, Sept. 19; and in the general election on Tuesday, Nov. 7. If you have any questions for Steve Howitt, please go to www.stevenhowitt.com. He is more than willing to discuss the stand he will make on Beacon Hill once elected to be your representative.
